Historical Role PlayInstructions:
In your home groups develop a skit in which a minimum of 2-3 members are colonists arguing for the repeal of The Intolerable Acts as well as justification of colonial "disobediance". Two members of the group will act as members of parliament listening to the pleas of the colonists and stating why The Intolerable Acts should not be repealed and how the colonists should be acting as subjects of King George III. This skit is to be video recorded and uploaded to the classroom website. Class time will be alloted for groups that would like to record their skit at school. Attached to the right is a grading rubric that details the expectations of the assignment. Each group member will be graded on an individual basis according to the grading rubric. The power points viewed in class provided an overview of the different aspects of The Intolerable Acts and the events leading up to the implementation of The Intolerable Acts. Now as a group you will use the following resources to provide historical depth to your skit beyond the information covered in class on The Intolerable Acts. I encourage each group to draw on information covered in previous class periods regarding the events leading up to the passage of The Intolerabe Acts to be used in the skit for argumentative purposes. Have fun with this assignment!! |
NOTE: On presentation day the class will vote anonymously on which presentation is thought to be the best. Judging criteria will be based on content and the acting out of the roles. Each member of the group that receives the most votes will earn EXTRA CREDIT!! (Hint...Get into character by dressing up) |
The following links have been placed according to their general support of either a pro-Colonial or pro-British argument. These links can be used to help in the gathering of the appropriate information needed to complete the project. However, feel free to explore different sites on your own as well as all the links below regardless of your role in the skit.
